The journey of a foster care family goes beyond traditional definitions—it’s about opening your heart to those who need it most. On this path, Kevin and Melissa have shown the true meaning of family through their unwavering commitment and love.
The Smith family finds themselves in a period of uncertainty, waiting for the court’s decision on whether they can adopt the two foster siblings they’ve cared for. Sleepless nights have been spent worrying about their future. Yet, amidst the waiting, the Smiths have opened their hearts once again, this time to a young boy with significant disabilities who relies on a wheelchair. Abandoned twice already, this eight-year-old is desperately in need of a family who will accept him for who he is and create stability in his life. The Smiths have carefully considered the challenges they may face—changes to their routine, accommodations for his needs, and even finding suitable transportation. But their answer remains a resounding, “Yes!”
The Fostering Hope team supporting the Smiths is not surprised by their decision. They understand the difficulties of fostering children affected by trauma, yet they persist in saying yes to those in need. “I am grateful to be able to support and encourage these incredible individuals who, even in the toughest times, extend their arms and hearts to those who need it most,” claimed one of their volunteers.
Now, more than ever, they need the help that their team so caringly provides. Witnessing the selfless love that Kevin and Melissa embody makes a difference in the lives of these children. Their support team is standing by, offering their help as they continue to embrace hope, give love, and provide a forever home for those who long for it. Together with the foster parents, Fostering Hope volunteers and our community of supporters can ensure that these children have the safe and nurturing environment they deserve—a place to grow, flourish, and thrive.
